The City of Burbank
Burbank consists of two distinct areas: a downtown/foothill section, in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains, and the flatland section. Burbank is the easternmost city in the San Fernando Valley. Burbank’s neighbor, Glendale, is the westernmost city in the San Gabriel Valley. The city was referred to as “Beautiful Downtown Burbank” on Laugh-In and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The city was named after David Burbank, a New Hampshire-born dentist and entrepreneur who established a sheep ranch there in 1867. Burbank’s largest companies and businesses include The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., Bob Hope Airport, Foto-Kem Industries, Yahoo!, and the Crane/Hydro Air Company.
