The City of Rancho Santa Margarita
Rancho Santa Margarita was original a large ranch purchased by James Flood and Jerome O’Neill and was a working ranch until the 1920’s. By the 1960’s there was rural cluster of homes that were developed and the area remained fairly remote until 1986 when the first homes were built. It was not until 1992 when the extensions of Oso, Antonio, and Alicia Parkways were completed that the city grew. The city was not incorporated until 2000 after a vote.
